Due to an internal promotion, we have an exciting opportunity for a confident and driven Senior Veterinary Surgeon to join our busy, RCVS-accredited, first-opinion small animal and equine practice located in the beautiful Channel Islands (Guernsey).
The Role:
You will have autonomy in vet work along with additional leadership responsibilities, including being available to support the wider team - helping with complaints, sorting out potential sickness, assisting other surgeons with complications etc.
Our ideal candidate will be a confident all-round GP vet who will deliver first class care to our patients and clients, with exceptional communication skills and who thrives in being part of a proactive and collaborative team.
We would be particularly interested in speaking to people with small animal medicine/dermatology or dental expertise.
- Permanent
- Full-time - but part-time considered for the right candidate – feel free to chat with us about options
- Rota - 4 days per week 8AM - 6.30PM. 1 weekend worked in every 3, this would be either Saturday or full weekend (dependant on diary)
- On call once a week with occasional additional cover for sickness or short-notice absences
Salary – dependent on experience
On-call retainer (paid in arrears):
Small animal and equine on call Mon-Fri = £300
Weekend and Bank holiday = £400
Equine on call only Mon-Fri = £150
Equine on call only for weekends and bank holiday = £200
About us:
The practice is comprised of nine vets, including several certificate holders, all of whom work to an extremely high standard to serve a discerning clientele.
Our skilled team of 9 RVNS, 4 students (2 1st year 2 2nd year) and 5 VCAs plus our reception and admin colleagues complete our team, all working collaboratively to ensure we provide the best possible service to owners and their pets. We’re a large and happy team that are highly supportive of one another.
The practice is furnished with all the equipment required to investigate and treat conditions medically and surgically, in light of the geographical limitation for referral.
You’ll be joining us at an exciting time with a new equine and small animal facility planned for 2026/2027!
