A true 4-day week. A hospital setting with real clinical depth. A role built around values, not volume.
If you want your work to matter, and your life outside work to exist
If you are an experienced veterinary surgeon who wants to practice high-quality medicine without feeling rushed, boxed in, or worn down, this could be the role that restores your sense of purpose.
This is for vets who still care deeply about outcomes, fairness, and doing the right thing for patients and people.
The Opportunity
We are working with a large, well-established veterinary hospital in Ellesmere Port, that operates very differently from most. This is a 24-hour hospital environment combining first opinion and referral work, but without the usual hierarchy, ego, or relentless pressure that often comes with it.
The team is looking for an established Veterinary Surgeon who enjoys clinical variety and wants to keep developing. You will see a broad and interesting caseload, supported by experienced colleagues and robust hospital infrastructure, while working within an organisation that is genuinely values-led.
Why This Role Is Different
Real clinical breadth
You will work in a true hospital setting with 24-hour care, seeing both first opinion and referral cases. This offers exposure and learning opportunities that are hard to find in standard practice, without sacrificing support or structure.
A flat, inclusive culture
There is no rigid hierarchy here. Every voice matters, regardless of role or background. The culture is collaborative, inclusive, and built around mutual respect. Diversity is actively welcomed, with no exclusions.
Designed for sustainability
The rota is built to protect longevity, not just fill shifts. A four-day week, shared weekends, and shared bank holidays mean the workload is demanding but fair, and designed to be sustainable long term.
Your Journey Here
In your first month, you will focus on settling in, understanding hospital workflows, and building relationships across the wider clinical team. Support is readily available, and there is no expectation to hit the ground running alone.
By three months, you will be confidently managing your caseload, making full use of the hospital facilities, and starting to explore areas where you want to develop further, whether that is a particular clinical interest or a certificate pathway.
By six months, you will be an established and trusted member of the team, contributing to clinical discussions, shaping patient care, and progressing your professional development with funded CPD and potential certificate support.
