Coastway Vets has been providing outstanding care to the region’s pets for 45 years, with a fantastic team of passionate professionals dedicated to excellence in veterinary medicine.
We’re a large, RCVS-accredited practice with five fully equipped branch practices alongside our large, central Brighton hospital. We also run the region’s biggest emergency veterinary service, giving our team exposure to a diverse and interesting caseload.
Our purpose-designed hospital boasts an impressive range of advanced diagnostic and surgical facilities, including CT, ultrasound, digital X-ray, laparoscopy, rigid and flexible endoscopy, and a fully equipped in-house laboratory. We also have separate wards for cats, dogs, exotics, isolation and day procedures, allowing us to deliver excellent standards of care across a wide range of species and clinical needs.

You’ll have access to excellent diagnostic facilities, experienced colleagues and plenty of opportunities to develop your clinical skills and interests, all within a team that genuinely values collaboration, high-quality patient care and professional development.
The role at a glance:
- Salary: up to £57,000 per annum, dependent on experience
- Hours: 40 hours per week
- Working pattern: 4 days a week with a set day off each week
- Weekends: 1:5 full weekends, with a day off in lieu
- On-call: 1:15 weeks as second on-call
We’re looking for an approachable, confident and team-oriented Veterinary Surgeon with excellent communication skills, a passion for patient care and a commitment to delivering a high standard of service to our clients.
The Team
At Coastway, you’ll be part of a close-knit, collaborative team who strive to deliver the very best care every single day.
Our Brighton Hospital is home to 17 day vets and 5 dedicated night vets, with multiple certificate holders across ECC, medicine, surgery, cardiology, imaging, exotics and oncology. We also benefit from a visiting ophthalmologist every two weeks and an orthopaedic surgeon twice a week, giving you access to a wealth of knowledge and experience.
Our vets are supported by 24 RVNs, a laboratory technician, stock manager, customer care manager and referral coordinator, creating a fantastic team environment where clinical support, collaboration and learning are part of everyday life.
We’re also passionate about giving back to our local community. From organising charity walks and cleaning local park ponds to taking part in the Lewes Raft Race, joining the Pride parade and launching pet food bank collections, our team loves getting involved and making a difference beyond the practice.
