An independent practice in East Sussex is seeking a dedicated Mixed Vet Surgeon to join their team.
The successful candidate will provide high-quality medical and surgical care across a diverse range of species in a mixed practice environment. Duties include consultations, diagnostics, routine and emergency surgeries, and preventive health guidance. The role encompasses treating domestic pets, farm livestock, and occasionally zoo animals, with farm visits and home visits required as necessary.
The practice is currently moving towards a 4-day working week structure, with the position initially starting on a 4.5-day per week basis until that transition is complete.
📋 Position Details:
- Hours: 4.5 days per week initially (transitioning towards a 4-day working week).
- Out-of-Hours Rota: Currently 1 weekend in 9, some Saturday mornings, and weekday duty shifts (subject to rota changes based on team size). Time off in lieu is provided the week following weekend cover.
- Key Responsibilities: Consultations, medical treatments, soft tissue and orthopedic surgeries, anaesthesia management, diagnostic imaging (radiography, ultrasound), blood sampling, emergency/critical care, farm livestock visits (herd health, breeding, nutrition advice), and client communication.
💰 Pay & Remuneration:
- Salary: £38,000 – £45,000 per annum (depending on experience). OOH duties are included within the annual salary, compensated with time off in lieu.
👤 Candidate Requirements:
- Active RCVS registration (MRCVS) or eligibility to register.
- Approximately 2 years of post-qualification experience (small animal or mixed practice preferred).
- Strong medical and surgical skills with the ability to manage emergency and critical care cases.
- Comfortable working independently during OOH duties while maintaining continuity of care.
- Valid driver's licence to undertake farm visits and domestic home visits.
