Who They Are
GVC is supporting a large, RCVS-accredited small animal practice in East Sussex (Lewes/Brighton area) with multiple branch sites and a central hospital. The wider team includes experienced day and night vets, strong RVN support, and clinicians with advanced interests across areas such as ECC, medicine, surgery and imaging, alongside access to visiting specialists. The setup is designed to give you the autonomy of community-based practice with genuine hospital-level collaboration when you need it.
What You’ll Do
This role suits a confident Veterinary Surgeon who enjoys variety across branch and hospital work. Your week will typically include:
- Branch-based consulting and routine surgery, building continuity with local clients
- Periods within the hospital environment, benefiting from broader clinical resources and peer support
- Managing your own cases with a focus on safe decision-making, clear plans, and strong client communication
- Contributing to a collaborative culture—knowing when to escalate, discuss cases, or refer internally for support
At the branch you’ll work sole charge, supported on-site by two RVNs and a receptionist, with additional clinical backup available from the wider team when required.
Working pattern
- Full-time, with flexible working considered
- Split across branch and hospital sites within easy reach
- 1:15 second on-call rota supporting the night/weekend team
