Brighton/Portslade/Shoreham
Ready for a position that offers an ideal mix of hospital‑based and branch‑based practice?
We’re seeking a Veterinary Surgeon to join our warm, supportive team working across our RCVS‑accredited Brighton Veterinary Hospital and branches at Portslade and Shoreham.
About Us:
For 45 years, Coastway Vets has been committed to delivering exceptional clinical care to pets across the region. Our central Brighton hospital is complemented by five fully equipped branches, and we also provide out‑of‑hours services for several neighbouring practices.
The hospital is purpose‑designed and equipped with advanced diagnostic and surgical technology, including CT, ultrasound, digital x‑ray, laparoscopy, rigid and flexible endoscopy, and a fully equipped in‑house laboratory. Separate wards for cats, dogs, exotics, isolation and day procedures help us maintain excellent standards across all species.
About the Role:
- Salary – £45,000 - £55,000 dependent on experience
- Full-time over 4 days/week - 2 days per week at our Brighton Hospital and 2 days per week at our Portslade & Shoreham branches (this will also include holiday cover for the branch sites)
- 1:4 weekends at the branch sites
- 1:15 2nd on call weeks
This position provides an excellent balance of hospital and branch work.
You’ll enjoy a diverse hospital caseload, ranging from emergencies to more advanced medical cases referred from our five branches and the neighbouring practices we support.
At branch level, you’ll work at the heart of the local community, building strong client relationships. The role includes periods of sole charge (weekends only), allowing you to manage your own consultations and routine surgeries, while still having the support of our friendly team and the clinical backup of our Brighton hospital whenever needed.
We’re seeking an approachable, confident, and team‑orientated Veterinary Surgeon with exceptional communication skills. You’ll be committed to delivering high‑quality client service and applying contextualised care.
The Team:
Our team includes multiple certificate holders covering a broad range of clinical interests, from orthopaedics and ophthalmology to advanced imaging and exotics. With both day and out‑of‑hours teams working closely together, we foster a strong culture of professional development, offering extensive in‑house and external CPD opportunities.
From our Practice Manager:
“We are looking for a passionate vet to join our talented, collaborative team who puts patient care above all else. We offer a supportive, family environment where we are committed to supporting your professional development, whether that's a specialist interest or clinical mentorship. We support and promote a healthy work life balance where you can enjoy a social team and still thrive professionally.”
