Who They Are
GVC is supporting a busy small animal practice in East London/Essex recruiting an Out of Hours Veterinary Surgeon into their established night team. You’ll be joining a sizeable clinical setup with 14 vets and 18 VNs, delivering 24/7 on-site patient care with dedicated day and night coverage. The practice is purpose-built with strong facilities to support emergency workups and procedures overnight.
What You’ll Do
This is a hands-on OOH role for a vet who is confident working independently and can deliver high standards under pressure. You’ll:
- Triage, stabilise and treat emergency presentations overnight
- Perform emergency procedures and surgery as required, prioritising safe decision-making
- Work cases up using strong in-house diagnostics, building clear plans and monitoring inpatient progress
- Communicate clearly and professionally with owners in urgent situations, maintaining excellent client service
- Collaborate effectively with the wider day/night team to ensure safe handovers and continuity of care
The practice is looking for candidates with UK experience, confidence in sole charge, and strong emergency surgery/medicine capability.
Working pattern
- 7 nights on / 14 nights off
- Mon–Fri: 8:00pm–8:15am
- Weekends: 6:00pm–9:00am
