Veterinary Surgeon – Essex
Salary: Dependent on experience (pro rata)

Are you looking to join a supportive and progressive practice where you can make a real difference to pets and their owners? Our thriving small animal surgery in Essex is seeking a part-time Veterinary Surgeon to join our friendly, experienced team on an initial fixed-term contract.
About the Practice
Based on the busy Lakeside Retail Park with free onsite parking and excellent transport links (A13/M25), our purpose-built practice is bright, spacious, and equipped to a high standard:
Digital X-ray and flexible endoscopes
Easy access to CT and MRI scanning
Orthopaedic kit (TPLO, patella luxation, fracture repair)
Advanced pain management techniques including CRIs and nerve blocks
High-quality ultrasound for both abdominal and cardiac imaging
We’re passionate about innovation, minimally invasive procedures, and keeping up to date with the latest in anaesthesia, surgery, and pain management.
You’ll join a supportive team of 4 Vets, 3 Nurses, 3 SVNs, 1 VCA, 6 CCAs, Practice Manager, and Reception Manager, with clinical interests spanning orthopaedics, internal medicine, and imaging.
About You
RCVS-registered Veterinary Surgeon
Ideally 1–2 years’ experience in small animal practice
Confident with routine consults (certificates or interests encouraged, but not essential)
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Team player with a passion for high-quality care
Whether you prefer consults-only or a mix of consults and surgery, we’d love to discuss how this role can suit you.
The Role
Part-time (1 weekday 9am–7pm + 1 in 4 weekends)
6–12 month fixed-term contract (potential to become permanent)
No OOHs and no bank holidays
