This exciting opportunity is perfect for an experienced Small Animal Surgeon with a passion for teaching, research, and clinical excellence.
You’ll play a key role in leading a specialist surgical service, mentoring the next generation of veterinary professionals, and driving innovation in clinical research and education.
What You’ll Do
- Lead and deliver high-quality small animal surgery services across a dynamic and well-equipped veterinary hospital.
- Support and supervise undergraduates, interns, and residents, helping shape the future of the profession.
- Contribute to the growth of clinical scholarship and surgical research, publishing work of international standard.
- Provide expert advice to referring vets and clients, ensuring exceptional standards of patient care.
- Take an active role in clinical leadership, strategic planning, and service development.
- Participate in the out-of-hours rota to support complex surgical cases when needed.
About You
- MRCVS-qualified (or eligible for registration).
- Postgraduate qualification in small animal surgery (e.g. ECVS, ACVS, FANZCVS or RCVS Diploma).
- Proven track record in clinical research, teaching, and advanced small animal surgery.
- Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire colleagues and students.
- Experience working within a university or referral hospital environment would be advantageous.
- For appointment at a professorial level, you will also demonstrate a national or international reputation for research excellence and leadership within the field of small animal surgery.
