Emergency Night Vet Needed In Gloucestershire
Gloucestershire, United Kingdom
My client has an exciting opportunity for an experienced and motivated Night Vet to join their progressive, dedicated OOH team.
This is a large, RCVS-accredited Small Animal Hospital and Emergency Services Clinic operating from a recently refurbished main site. Facilities include four theatres, CT scanner, laparoscopic equipment, rigid and flexible endoscopy, advanced ultrasound, and much more, providing the tools and technology needed to manage a wide variety of cases.
The caseload is both challenging and rewarding, as the hospital supports numerous practices across the county as well as its own loyal client base. As Night Vet, you will lead a team of dedicated night nurses while being supported by 20 day vets, including multiple certificate holders. This role requires strong clinical confidence across emergency medicine and surgery, along with excellent client and team skills.
The current rota is 7 nights on, followed by 14 nights off, with holidays taken in non-working time, offering a generous amount of downtime for rest, travel, or personal pursuits.
The package includes:
- Salary up to £72,500 pro rata, dependent on experience and qualifications
- 6.6 weeks holiday
- £1,750 CPD allowance per annum (pro rata), with certificates encouraged and supported
- Paid RCVS membership plus two additional professional subscriptions
- Health Shield scheme, covering a wide range of wellbeing treatments
- Enhanced maternity, paternity, adoption, shared parental, and surrogacy pay
- Generous staff discounts for companion animals
- Cycle to Work scheme and gym/retail discounts via “My Benefits”
- Company sick pay (2 weeks full, 4 weeks half)
- Annual pay reviews
- Accommodation available locally if required
- Strong focus on wellbeing and career progression opportunities
The culture is friendly, sociable, and supportive, with regular staff events such as summer socials, Christmas parties, and ad-hoc outings including bowling, darts, and golf range trips. Team spirit is important, and small touches—like pancake day celebrations—add to the sense of community.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a vet with a passion for ECC and hospital work who is looking for a well-equipped, supportive environment and an excellent rota to ensure true work-life balance.
