Three Counties Equine Hospital is looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic new or recent graduate to join our team in August 2025

This role is for a fixed term of 18-20 months
This House Surgeon/Intern position offers a great opportunity for an individual looking to gain hands-on experience in a clinical setting while working under the supervision of senior clinicians, including diplomats in equine internal medicine and surgery.
Our interns work as part of our fantastic hospital team and you will be involved in various aspects of animal care and patient management, providing an invaluable learning experience in the veterinary field. There will also be the opportunity to attend some ambulatory calls.
About the practice:
We are a first opinion ambulatory and referral hospital situated on the Worcestershire, Gloucestershire & Herefordshire borders. We offer a wide range of surgeries (both standing and under general anaesthesia) including laparoscopy, exploratory laparotomy, upper airway surgeries, fracture repair and many more. We have high quality radiography units, ultrasound machines and also have MRI and scintigraphy. We also offer overground endoscopy and have facilities for ICU of adults, neonates and isolation cases.
Duties:
The hospital-based role includes assisting with:
- A diverse in-patient caseload, including intensive care of adults and neonates
- Providing patient care, including monitoring vital signs and administering medications
- Diagnostic imaging, including radiography, endoscopy, ultrasonography, scintigraphy & MRI
- Anaesthesia, surgery and standing surgical procedures
- Poor performance and lameness investigations and treatment
- Assisting with artificial insemination (AI) during the stud season
- Maintaining accurate medical records and documentation for all patients
- Involvement in research projects. This is actively encouraged and supported by both the senior clinicians and the VetPartners clinical research team
- Continuing education is provided with individual mentoring and regular ‘in house’ CPD training. Interns are expected to participate in scheduled seminars and lectures, morbidity and mortality (M&M) rounds, and journal clubs
- Shared 1 in 5 rota covering lameness, medicine, theatre and night duties
