Consult-only role. 20 hours a week. Purpose-led practice. No hierarchy.
If you love consulting, but not the burnout that often comes with it
If you are a Veterinary Surgeon who genuinely enjoys building relationships, focusing on preventative care, and having the time to do right by clients without rushing, this role is well worth a closer look.
The Opportunity
We are working with a purpose-led veterinary practice in Ashton-under-Lyne, that has deliberately designed a consulting-only role for a vet who wants impact without overload. This is a position focused on consultations and vaccinations, ideal if you value continuity, communication, and clinical standards without the pressure of surgery.
This practice exists to solve a real problem in the profession. Too many pets go untreated because owners cannot afford care. Here, the mission is simple and uncompromising. No pet should suffer or face euthanasia when treatment is a viable option.
You would be joining a team that believes good medicine and accessibility should go hand in hand. The caseload is varied and meaningful, with a strong proportion of sick and injured pets, and the infrastructure around you is built to support excellent outcomes.
Why This Role Is Different
A clinic built to support good consulting
- Five dedicated consulting rooms that allow appointments to run properly
- Separate dog and cat wards to reduce stress and improve patient comfort
- Two fully equipped theatres and a dedicated dental suite on site
Clinical depth without pressure
- A diverse medical and surgical caseload managed by the wider team
- An on-site Orthopaedic Surgeon, providing expertise and collaborative support
- You focus on consulting, knowing referrals and next steps are handled seamlessly
A genuinely flat, supportive culture
- No hierarchy. Every voice matters, regardless of role or title
- Decisions are made with clinical quality and patient welfare at the centre
- A team environment where collaboration is normal, not aspirational
Values you can stand behind
- Operates as a Community Interest Company, not profit-first
- Free consultations and transparent pricing remove barriers to care
- A clear commitment to sustainability, fairness, and long-term impact
Your Journey Here
In your first month, you will settle into the consulting routine, get to know the team, and understand how the practice supports clients through accessible care. You will have time to build confidence with systems and processes without pressure.
By three months, you will be fully comfortable managing your consulting workload, building rapport with regular clients, and contributing to preventative and medical care decisions. You will feel trusted and supported in your clinical judgement.
By six months, you will be a valued, established member of the team, known by clients and colleagues alike, and making a tangible difference to pets that might otherwise have gone untreated.
