We’re working with a long-established independent small animal practice in Greater Manchester that has built its reputation over more than four decades through exceptional client care, clinical freedom, and a genuinely supportive team environment.
This is not a corporate setting with targets, sales pressures, or endless meetings. Instead, you'll join a family-run practice where decisions are made quickly, your professional judgement is trusted, and quality veterinary care remains the priority.
They're now seeking an experienced Veterinary Surgeon with at least five years' experience who enjoys both consulting and surgery and is looking for a long-term professional home.
The Role
This position offers an excellent work-life balance without compromising on clinical exposure.
What's on Offer?
- Salary up to £75,000 pro rata
- Three-day working week (Wednesday to Friday)
- Hours: 8:00am – 6:30pm
- One in three Saturday mornings (8:30am – 1:00pm)
- No out-of-hours commitments
- 20 days annual leave plus bank holidays (pro rata)

Clinical Caseload
- You'll enjoy a varied first-opinion caseload with a strong surgical component:
- Surgery throughout the morning and early afternoon
- Consultations from late afternoon onwards
- Opportunity to develop and utilise surgical interests
- Time allocated to work cases up properly
- Clinical autonomy and decision-making encouraged
The Practice
- This well-established independent practice has been serving the local community for over 45 years and remains proudly family owned.
- Led by an experienced veterinary team, the practice combines traditional values with modern equipment and facilities, including:
- Digital radiography
- Ultrasound
- In-house laboratory
- Access to visiting specialists when required
- Most importantly, the team prioritises doing things properly. Appointments are structured sensibly, patient care comes first, and vets are given the support and trust needed to deliver high-quality medicine.
