Who They Are
GVC is supporting a well-equipped small animal first-opinion hospital practice in the South of England with strong nurse and support teams. The site has facilities you’d expect in a high-spec GP hospital setting, including imaging, dentistry, endoscopy, laparoscopy-capable theatre and ICU capability, plus an in-house laboratory supported by dedicated technicians. There is also access to advanced clinical input through visiting and referral-level services, creating a culture where case discussion and continual improvement are part of normal working.
What You’ll Do
This is an out-of-hours night Vet Surgeon position with a strong focus on clinical autonomy and safe decision-making. You’ll:
- Lead the assessment and stabilisation of OOH presentations and inpatient needs overnight
- Build clear diagnostic and treatment plans and carry cases through with strong continuity
- Perform surgical and medical interventions appropriate to the caseload and time-critical setting
- Use available diagnostics confidently (including imaging and in-house lab support)
- Communicate clearly and calmly with owners in urgent situations, maintaining high standards of client care
- Contribute to a progressive clinical environment through case discussion and shared learning
This is a sole charge nights role, with a nurse on site, so experience and confidence working independently are required.
Working pattern
- 7 nights on / 14 nights off
- 7:00pm–8:00am
- Flexibility on number of nights worked may be considered for the right person
What You’ll Gain
- Salary up to £70,000
- RCVS & VDS fees paid
- CPD support, with support towards further qualifications
- Up to 33 days holiday
- Health cash plan, Employee Assistance Programme, wellbeing support and enhanced family leave policies
- Staff pet care discounts
- Accommodation can be provided
