MJ Health is currently seeking an experienced Permanent Veterinary Surgeon for our well-established client in Portsmouth, Hampshire.

Overview:
Salary: Competitive – DOE, with quarterly recognition payments and excellent benefits
Animal type: Small Animal
Shifts: To be discussed – flexible hours reflecting business needs
Full time/Part time: Full Time 
Out of hours: No
Weekends: Some weekend cover on a rota basis
Sole charge: Occasional
Team Size: Supportive team of Vets, RVNs, and non-clinical staff
Equipment/facilities available: Purpose-built, spacious surgery with state-of-the-art equipment for first opinion consultations, diagnostics, and surgeries
Other Info:

Minimum 3 years' experience required, including 1+ year in UK practice

Focus on preventive healthcare and diagnostics

CPD encouraged and funded, with internal leadership training opportunities

Role Responsibilities:
As a key member of the team, you'll be responsible for:

Delivering outstanding clinical care, preventive services, and treatment

Conducting consultations, investigations, and surgeries

Collaborating positively with colleagues and taking clinical direction from senior vets

Leading by example in customer care, case continuity, and communication

Maintaining up-to-date clinical notes and adhering to internal SOPs

Supporting and mentoring junior staff when requested

Committing to ongoing personal and professional development

Ideal Candidate Will:

Demonstrate strong communication, time management, and organisational skills

Be calm, empathetic, and confident under pressure

Thrive in a fast-paced, team-focused environment

Be willing to support cover across sites when needed

Adhere to RCVS Code of Conduct and health & safety protocols
