A well-established small animal practice group in Hertfordshire is looking for a Veterinary Surgeon to join a close-knit, collaborative team. Having been part of the local community for over 40 years, they have built a loyal client base and a culture focused on genuine clinical excellence and real support for their people.
The role offers a 4-day, 40-hour week with a mix of approximately 40% consultations and 60% surgery. There is no on-call or OOH requirement, and a visiting peripatetic orthopaedic surgeon covers more complex orthopaedic cases. Equipment includes digital X-ray, dental X-ray and ultrasound with colour flow Doppler. The experienced nursing team takes an active lead on inpatient monitoring and care, allowing the vet to focus on clinical decisions.
Many clients have been with the practice for years, and with a high proportion of insured patients there is real opportunity to follow cases through and build proper client relationships. The practice is also part of the RCVS Practice Standards Scheme and is a training practice for veterinary nurses.
Up to £65,000 depending on experience. Relocation package of up to £5,000 available. One in three Saturdays and one in six full weekends with time off in lieu. Five weeks holiday plus bank holidays and a birthday day off.
Paid RCVS and VDS fees, funded CPD, extensive online CPD programme, enhanced sick pay, enhanced family leave and a full wellness programme. Current vets in the team are working towards certificates in medicine and dermatology, and certificate support is available for the right candidate.
