The Role
We are looking for an Equine Veterinary Surgeon to join our friendly progressive team at Churchfield Veterinary Centre. We are a first opinion ambulatory and clinic-based equine practice in Hoylandswaine, South Yorkshire.
Our practice encourages a good work-life balance and we are keen to ensure the benefits of the position match your needs where possible. You would be required to work around 40 hours a week over 4.5 days. You will be included in the on-call rota working on average 1:8 nights and 1:8 weekends, with a long weekend off after a weekend worked.
The salary for this role is up to £60,000 DOE plus benefits.
About Us
We are an equine and small animal practice in South Yorkshire with good access to beautiful countryside and major regional cities, we are situated close to motorways and the Peak District - an area that boasts an abundance of leisure activities.
This equine role is part ambulatory with clinic facilities for in-patients and out-patients at our equine centre. We have the usual equipment as portable DR and static CR x-ray imaging, endoscopes, gastroscope, u/s scanners, shockwave, powered dental equipment, and we have organised days for sarcoid laser surgery clinics. The equine centre also has stabling, stocks, an indoor trot-up area, an outdoor ménage, a knock-down box and op theatre for elective surgery, and laboratory facilities. We are BEVA-registered for the use of both chilled and frozen semen and we have a mixed competition/leisure horse population to care for which offers a varied caseload.
About the Team and Culture
We have a team of 4 equine veterinary surgeons who are supported by 4 equine receptionists/grooms, 2 office assistants and a Practice Manager.
We are training as a VetGDP Adviser practice and are hoping to have 1 mixed equine and small animal new graduate veterinary surgeon starting in September 2022.
Applicant Requirements
The role would suit an organised, self-motivated progressive team player with equine experience who is confident and competent in routine equine general practice. An ability to work up lameness cases, dentistry, gastroscopy, internal medicine. An interest in equine reproduction would be an advantage. Good communication skills are essential.
