An exceptional, steadily growing small animal and exotics practice located on the scenic Lancashire coast is seeking a permanent Veterinary Surgeon to join their close-knit, highly supportive team.
This practice is famous for its incredible team culture, even hosting a practice-wide breakfast every Friday morning. Whether you are a newly qualified vet looking for a nurturing environment or an experienced clinician seeking a refreshing change of pace, the most important attribute is a desire to be part of a collaborative, community-focused team.
The 3-Day Work Week & Rota
The rota has been meticulously designed to protect your downtime and give you plenty of time to explore the nearby coast, the Lake District, or vibrant cities like Manchester and Liverpool on your four days off:
- Core Hours: Full-time is just 3 days per week (08:30 to 19:00).
- Catch-up Time: The final consult slot is at 17:45, leaving a dedicated final half-hour for admin or an early departure if your notes are complete.
- On-Call: Very light duties consisting of just one weekday night on-call every two weeks. Full on-site accommodation is provided for your on-call night, and an external answering service screens all calls so you are only woken for genuine emergencies.
- Weekends: A gentle 1 in 4 Saturday morning shift only (finishing promptly at 12:00). A dedicated emergency vet takes over all care past midday, and an experienced RVN is on-call with you every night.
State-of-the-Art Facilities & Flow
The practice has expanded significantly to keep workflows stress-free and gold-standard:
- Separate first-floor waiting areas and consult rooms for dogs and cats.
- Dedicated, quiet inpatient wards specifically for cats, rabbits, exotics, and birds to eliminate stress.
- Exciting Expansion: A brand-new extension is due for completion by the end of the summer, which will house a state-of-the-art 64-Slice CT scanner and an additional operating theatre.
- Daily Structure: Daily shifts are explicitly partitioned—one main operating vet, a second vet to support, and a third to monitor hospitalised patients, with set blocks for lunch, phone calls, and case discussions. Specialist exotics backup is always available.
About You
- Must be a qualified Veterinary Surgeon with active RCVS registration.
- A skilled communicator who can consult efficiently and is confident with basic soft tissue surgeries.
- Comfortable with autonomous sole charge specifically for the infrequent out-of-hours emergency cover.
