Job Type: Permanent (full-time and part-time applications welcomed; flexible working patterns can be discussed)
Hours: 40 hours per week over 4–5 days with a 1:4 Saturday rota (8:30am–2:00pm; Sunday 8:00am–7:00pm paid extra). No night shifts—dedicated night team in place.
Salary: Up to £70,000 per annum
GVC are assisting a leading Tier 3 RCVS-accredited hospital in Leicester with the recruitment of an experienced Veterinary Surgeon. This is an exciting opportunity to join a supportive, well-equipped team where both consulting and surgery form a balanced, rewarding caseload. Inpatient or surgical interests can be fully supported, with flexibility to focus on these areas if desired.
Role Overview
This position is ideally suited for a Veterinary Surgeon eager to work across all GP areas while also engaging in surgical and inpatient care. The hospital offers advanced services and referral support but equally champions primary care and first-opinion caseloads.
The successful candidate will:
- Perform routine consultations and surgeries including neutering, abdominal ultrasound, exploratory laparotomies, and dental procedures.
- Contribute to a collaborative team environment with regular case discussions and monthly meetings.
- Have opportunities to pursue certificate studies or special interests, supported by experienced colleagues.

Candidate Requirements
- RCVS registration with a minimum of 2 years’ general practice experience.
- Competent in routine neutering for cats and dogs, including FLANK cat spays.
- Confident in performing abdominal ultrasound, TFAST, AFAST, exploratory laparotomies, splenectomies, GDVs, gastrotomy, and enterotomy.
- Comfortable managing routine consultations (15 minutes) and dental procedures.
