Love the idea of doing it all—consulting companion animals, supporting local producers, working with horses, and still being home in time for dinner? This role offers variety, community connection, and genuine work-life balance in a vibrant regional town that offers both professional challenge and personal reward.
We’re recruiting on behalf of a long-standing, community-focused mixed practice in the western Riverina region of south-western New South Wales, close to the border with Victoria (approx. 3 hours from Melbourne), and they’re looking for someone who’s ready to embrace real mixed practice—and a lifestyle to match.
✈️ Overseas Applicants Welcome!
We offer flexible visa sponsorship, including:
- Working Holiday Visa (6 months initially, extendable to 12 months)
- Sponsorship for longer-term visas available for the right candidate
- Assistance with relocation and onboarding support to get you settled
🌟 What Makes This Role Different
- Genuine mixed caseload – 70% small animal, 30% large (beef cattle, sheep, equine, and some dairy support through collaboration with a nearby clinic)
- Team culture that actually walks the talk – collaborative, supportive, and focused on mentorship and wellbeing
- Strong ties to the community – participate in local events and truly become part of the town
- Structured support for development – from new grads to seasoned vets, you'll be backed with mentorship and professional growth opportunities
- Work-life balance that’s real – flexibility, friendly hours, and a town that makes slowing down easy
🐾 The Day-to-Day
- A mix of consults, herd health, farm visits, equine work, and surgery
- Shared after-hours roster across the team (well-supported and fairly structured)
- Hands-on learning with skilled colleagues and a broad support network
- Scope to pursue your interests—reproduction, equine, surgery, or medicine
🌿 Life in Regional NSW
This welcoming rural town blends open space, fresh air, and a real sense of community. You’ll enjoy cafes, sporting clubs, river activities like water-skiing, and a more affordable lifestyle—all without giving up access to essential services and infrastructure.
