Are you an experienced Equine Vet with a passion for stud medicine, looking for a unique opportunity in Australia? We’re recruiting on behalf of a highly regarded equine practice that is looking for a Senior Equine Stud Veterinarian to join their team ahead of the 2025 breeding season.
This is an ideal role for vets who enjoy a fast-paced, high-standard clinical setting with a focus on thoroughbred stud work, reproductive care, and yearling sales support. You'll be working in one of Australia’s most renowned breeding regions with some of the country’s top-performing farms.
Nestled in a picturesque valley in eastern New South Wales, this region is renowned for its rolling countryside, rich equine heritage, and welcoming rural community. Just a couple of hours northwest of Newcastle, it offers the perfect balance of peaceful country living with easy access to city amenities. 🔍 The Role at a Glance
You’ll take the lead in delivering high-quality veterinary care to large commercial breeding operations, backed by a collaborative team of ambulatory vets. Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing mare reproductive programs
- Supporting foaling and neonatal care
- Lameness evaluations and imaging
- Providing pre-sale assessments for yearling sales
- Racehorse and pre-trainer support (if desired)
👤 What We’re Looking For
To thrive in this role, you’ll need:
- 5+ years’ experience in equine veterinary practice, including stud farm reproductive work
- Prior hospital experience, ideally including an internship
- Strong diagnostic and imaging skills
- A team-oriented mindset and clear communication
- Interest in yearling sales or racetrack work (a bonus!)
- Veterinary degree recognised for full registration in New South Wales, Australia
🌏 Visa & Relocation Support
We’re open to vets based internationally and offer flexible visa sponsorship options, including:
- Working Holiday Visas (6 months initially, extendable to 12 months)
- Long-term 482 sponsorship for eligible candidates
- Full support with Australian veterinary registration and relocation

📆 Roster Structure
