Night Veterinary Surgeon – Bristol Part-Time | Up to £65,000 DOE | 3 Nights on & 2 Weeks OffLooking for a night role that offers a fantastic work-life balance without compromising on clinical variety? 🩺
GVC are assisting a veterinary hospital in Bristol with the recruitment of an experienced
Night Veterinary Surgeon to join their out-of-hours team. With a unique rota of one working week followed by two weeks off, this is an excellent opportunity for a vet who enjoys emergency medicine, clinical autonomy and a varied caseload.
🌙 The Role
- Salary: Up to £65,000 per annum, depending on experience
- Hours: Average of 12 hours per week across the rota
- Rota: 1 in 3 weeks, working Monday to Wednesday nights, followed by two weeks off
- Shift times: 8pm–9am
- Location: Bristol
- Clinical focus: Out-of-hours (OOH), emergency and critical care (ECC)
- Sole-charge overnight responsibility
- Small animal emergency consultations, medical work-ups and routine and emergency surgery
- Inpatient care, including exotic patients
- Receiving and managing cases transferred from referring practices
Although you'll need to be confident making independent clinical decisions overnight, you'll have access to wider clinical support and development opportunities.
👩⚕️ About You We're looking for an experienced small animal vet with approximately 3–5+ years' experience, who is confident managing a varied emergency caseload.
You'll ideally have:
- Strong medical knowledge and confidence with emergency presentations.
- Experience in routine and emergency surgery.
- The ability to work independently and manage cases under sole charge.
- Excellent communication skills and a compassionate approach to clients.
- A genuine passion for delivering outstanding patient care.
- An interest in continuing to develop your clinical skills and knowledge.
- Competitive salary of up to £65,000 DOE.
