Up to £60,000 DOE
Glaven Veterinary Practice, Holt
Holt, Norfolk, United Kingdom
We are looking for two vets to join our team at Glaven Veterinary Practice and can be flexible as to whether this be part or full time as we understand there is life outside of work. We have the beautiful Norfolk countryside and coast on our doorstep and want you to be able to enjoy it as much as we all do!
A standard working day starts at 8.30 and finishes at 18.30. We have different shift patterns, as follows:
9-12 consult then 14.00 – 15.00 then 16.00 – 17.45
9-12 consult then 16.00 – 17.45 or 8.30 – 16.00 in theatre (you dictate your breaks) then consult 16.00- 17.45 There will be 1 in 6 Saturday mornings - Saturday mornings consist of consulting 9am – 12, if any inpatients require to be cared for over the weekend the vet is responsible for transferring these to our out of hours provider after consults, although this happens infrequently.
We have outsourced out of hours however alongside the nursing team there is some inpatient cover Monday to Friday. The diary is a mixture of operating and consulting time at our main branch in Holt with a couple of half days between 9 – 11am or 14.00- 18.00 consulting at our smaller branch in sunny Wells-next-the-sea. This is sole charge consulting only.
Admin time is provided between consulting, however, if additional is needed we will always work to accommodate our vets’ needs.
The majority of our team work four days a week with a fixed day off, however, if you have something else in mind, come and talk to us.
The salary for this role is up to £60,000 depending on experience. A Golden Hello is also on offer for the right candidate.
At Glaven Veterinary Practice we have a more personal and friendly approach to animal care, offering not only first-class veterinary treatment for the animal community, but also advice and encouragement for our clients to help prevent illness in their pets. We consider ourselves to have a well-equipped surgery with the usual range of diagnostic equipment including dedicated imaging room. We have separate wards for cats and dogs to ensure minimal stress for pets staying with us. For large dogs, we have several large ‘walk in’ kennels so all pets can be comfortable whilst staying with us.
About the Team and Culture
We are usually a 6-vet team, and we have a couple of wonderful locums who are regulars so our permanent staff can take their annual leave allowing us to work at a sensible pace. If you have an interest in a particular veterinary area, we will endeavour to ensure you are given the support and funding to pursue those interests. We have three OVs and two VetGDP qualified vets.
Our nursing team consists of 6 super RVNs, 1 (soon to be 2) amazing SVNs and 2 awesome ANAs, all of whom are dedicated to patient care and work to support the vets including undertaking consultations. We benefit from RVNs with special interests in canine and feline behaviour, ECC and breeding.
We are a team who like to work collaboratively and support each other with a focus on wellbeing and development. Our dedicated wellbeing champions organise regular social and fundraising events for the practice, including a supper club and annual Macmillan coffee morning, as well as Wellbeing and Training mornings. Our practice management team are also qualified Mental Health First Aiders.
You will have a Veterinary Degree registrable in the UK enabling full MRCVS status. Ideally you may have some experience, so someone who may have been looking to move from their first practice since graduating or someone who is looking to expand their experience of small animal practice to include leadership. You will be encouraged to develop your specific interests and we will support you every step of the way, including the study to certificate level. Successful candidates would ideally have mentoring experience, preferably in surgery, and enjoy case discussions whilst also benefiting from clinical autonomy. Interest in developing surgical experience would be an advantage.
