We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Stud Vet with ambulatory experience to join our dedicated equine practice based near York on a fixed term contract to cover maternity leave.

The position will be from Feb/March to Aug/Sept 2026 for a minimum of 6 months.

About Our Practice:

• Established RCVS accredited ambulatory practice with a 40-year reputation for clinical excellence

• Proudly part of the Vet Partners group

• Our focus is to deliver high-quality client focused veterinary care and maintain strong relationships with our clients and their horses

• Friendly, progressive, close-knit team, supported by an experienced office team, two qualified RVNs, two animal care assistants and a groom

• Clinic with stables, paddocks and stocks

• 3 digital radiography systems and multiple ultrasound units • Video endoscopy, gastroscopy, shockwave and in-house laboratory

The Role:

We’re seeking an experienced stud veterinarian to join our team, with a primary focus on routine reproductive work including scanning and AI (chilled and frozen), alongside ambulatory foal care.

The caseload predominantly involves individual broodmares and small studs with some thoroughbred work. The role offers a diverse mix of first-opinion ambulatory cases and would suit vets interested in combining Northern and Southern Hemisphere breeding seasons. Most mares are seen at the clinic and on-call duties are limited exclusively to stud work, ensuring a balanced and rewarding workload.

The Area:

The local area has something for everyone, with access to both rural countryside and urban activities providing plenty of options for your well-earned downtime. It also offers a competitive cost of living compared to southern locations. The east coast, North Yorks Moors and the Dales are within easy reach and there are great transport links - London is just a 2-hour train journey.
