A friendly, well‑established small animal practice in Nottinghamshire is seeking an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join the team on a fixed‑term maternity cover contract. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a supportive, close‑knit environment with a varied caseload and strong clinical standards.

The Practice This independent practice has a warm, welcoming culture and a strong focus on enjoying work while delivering high‑quality care. The team consists of:

3 Vets

5 Nurses

Reception team

Practice Manager

The Practice Owner is highly experienced, bringing over two decades of clinical and surgical knowledge to the team.

The caseload is varied, with several complex cases seen daily. Dedicated time is allocated for follow‑ups, inpatient care, reporting results and investigative work. Routine procedures are carried out alongside 15‑minute consults, with admin time built into the schedule.

Facilities include:

Digital standard and dental x‑ray

Ultrasound

ECG

Ultrasonic dental equipment

Blood pressure monitoring

Suction and cautery

Class 4 laser therapy

Infusion pumps

Full in‑house laboratory

Air‑conditioned, purpose‑built premises

The team enjoys regular social events, and staff wellbeing is supported with refreshments and a positive working atmosphere.

The Role The practice is looking for a confident, friendly Veterinary Surgeon with:

RCVS registration

Ideally 3–4 years’ experience in small animal practice

Confidence in routine surgery and consultations

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

A positive, team‑focused approach

Ability to work independently when required

A surgical bias is welcome but not essential.

Working Pattern

Full or part‑time applicants considered

Typical hours: 08:30–18:00 (paid until 18:30)

Ideally 3 or 4 days per week

1 in 3 Saturday mornings (08:30–12:00)

No OOH

No bank holidays

There is also the potential for partnership opportunities for the right candidate.
