Long Eaton, Nottinghamshire, United Kingdom
We have a fantastic opportunity for a Veterinary Surgeon to support our small animal team in Long Eaton, Nottinghamshire.
We are a tier 3 hospital status practice with a fantastic local reputation and have been with Vet Partners since March 2019. Ashfield House is a bit of a hybrid between first opinion and a referral clinic, due to both the facilities available and the experience of our team.
We currently have 16 vets, which are a mix of full-time and part time. The role is to replace one of our team who will be leaving in August.
Role:
- Permanent
- Full-time (part time hours are available for the right candidate)
- Support for a certificate would be available
- Day rota including weekends
- No OOH – we have our own dedicated OOH team
If you’re a Veterinary Surgeon with experience in small animal practice and confident with routine veterinary work we’d love to hear from you! We’d be particularly interested in hearing from candidates with a medical bias.
Our well-equipped facilities:
The main hospital has access to a high-end ultrasound machine, digital radiography, dental radiography, endoscopy/rhinoscopy/bronchoscopy, electrocautery, laparoscopy, tonometry and slit lamp and more. A new CT scanner has recently been installed
Our biggest branch also has access to digital radiography including dental, and ultrasound and a fully equipped lab. The hospital lab can run most things including T4, SDMA, Cortisol, Bile acids, Cpli/Fpli, Coags, urine sediments etc, and we have access to the Imagyst for rapid haematology and cytology interpretations if needed.
Our Team:
We are a friendly team of likeminded professionals, with a shared view of caring for our customers beloved pets as if they were our own.
The practice currently consists of 16 vets, 20 nurses and 19 support colleagues.
Our Vet team is headed by Ben Pugh BVSc (Hons) PGCertSAOphthal MRVCS, Katherine Benstead BVSc (Hons) Cert AVP MRCVS, Jade Higby BVSc PgCert(SAS) MRCVS and Ailsa Woodson BVSc MRCVS
We pride ourselves on providing the best first opinion veterinary care to our patients, utilising our heavily experienced veterinary team in a multi-disciplinary approach. We are fortunate to have many certificate holders at Ashfield House. These include Surgery, Internal Medicine, Ophthalmology, Anaesthesia and Dermatology. We currently have vets working towards certificates in Surgery, Imaging, Internal Medicine and Endoscopy.
Our two surgery certificate holders carry out more complex procedures on a regular basis, which includes BOAS surgery, cruciate surgery (eg TPLO/CCWO), patella surgeries, fracture repair, cholecystectomy, liver lobe resection, TECAs and so on. We also have access to laser therapy, acupuncture and physiotherapy within the clinics. We emphasise a team approach and developing the individual.

The wonderful town of Long Eaton is situated midway between Nottingham and Derby. With easy access from the J24 and J25 of the M1, Long Eaton also features its own train station, great bus service and only a short distance from East Midlands Airport, making this a fantastic opportunity for commuters!
