Purpose-built practice | Surgical caseload you can lean into | Genuine investment in your development
If you are a vet who loves surgery but feels held back…
If you are a Veterinary Surgeon who gets real satisfaction from surgery, but feel your current role does not fully support or develop that interest, this could be the role that finally feels aligned with how you want to practise.
Maybe you already hold a surgical certificate, or maybe you are a confident GP vet with three or more years under your belt and a strong surgical bias that deserves more time, trust and encouragement. Either way, this role is built around letting you do your best work.
The Opportunity
We are working with a well established, purpose-built small animal practice in Nottingham, that has quietly built a reputation for doing things properly. The focus here is not rushing through consults or firefighting day after day, but delivering high-quality medicine with the support, facilities and people to back it up.
They are looking to welcome one Veterinary Surgeon who genuinely enjoys surgery and wants it to be a meaningful part of their role. You will join a settled, collaborative clinical team where knowledge is shared openly and development is actively encouraged, not just talked about.
This is a full-time, permanent position offering stability, variety and the chance to shape your caseload around your strengths, particularly in surgery.
Why This Role Is Different
A team that actually supports progression
You will be joining a clinical team of 4 Veterinary Surgeons and 6 RVNs, backed up by a strong reception team of 5. Several vets are already studying towards certificates in ophthalmology, internal medicine and surgery, which tells you a lot about the culture. Learning here is normal, supported and celebrated.
Facilities that let you practise properly
This is a purpose-built, spacious practice with fantastic facilities that allow you to deliver high standards of care without compromise. The environment is calm, organised and designed to support both patients and clinicians.
A genuine commitment to training
The practice has a strong history of supporting students and newly qualified colleagues, many of whom have chosen to stay on permanently. CPD is continuous across all levels, with active work being done to identify skill gaps and support individual interests.
Balanced rota, realistic expectations
You will work 39 hours per week with a 1 in 4 weekend rota, allowing you to maintain a healthy balance between work and life outside the practice.
Your Journey Here
In your first month, you will focus on settling in, getting to know the team, understanding how the practice runs and becoming comfortable with the facilities and support around you.
By three months, you will be confidently managing your caseload, with surgery forming a clear and supported part of your role. You will be encouraged to explore CPD options that align with your interests and long-term goals.
By six months, you will be a key clinical contributor, trusted for your surgical skills and actively shaping your development pathway, whether that is further certificate study or expanding specific surgical services.
