My client is seeking an experienced Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon (minimum 3 years’ PQE) to join their large, well-established independent practice. The role is primarily hospital-based, with occasional sole charge at local branches and ambulatory shifts, offering a varied and rewarding caseload for a confident all-rounder.
The full-time rota is 4 days per week (8:00am–6:30pm), with 1:10 full weekends (day shifts only) and the occasional Saturday morning consult. A dedicated in-house night team covers overnight care, with only occasional holiday or absence cover required (time off in lieu provided). Following a full weekend, vets receive a Monday morning off, plus their scheduled day off the following week.
Consults are 15 minutes, with additional time for complex cases and admin. Rotas are realistic and sustainable, with strong nursing, reception and coordination support. Clinical protocols are in place, while clinical freedom is actively encouraged.
The team includes a wide mix of experience, led by senior vets and directors, alongside an exceptional nursing team. Professional development is strongly supported, with mentoring, recognition of special interests and a structured career pathway.
Salary: £38,000 – £60,000 DOE
