An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced farm vet to join us in Kelso, in the Scottish Borders.
The role would suit a confident vet who enjoys working as part of an experienced and enthusiastic team providing excellent clinical care and who is keen to develop their skills.
Galedin is a mixed practice with an established beef, sheep and dairy client base alongside small animal and equine services. The role will mainly involve working with our progressive suckler farms where we offer routine services from pelvimetry, AI and bull testing through to pregnancy scanning and blood sampling in addition to any emergency work. There is the opportunity to work with our pedigree beef and sheep flocks and confidence with herd and flock health planning is essential. The role includes an equally shared, farm-only out-of-hours rota.
The practice has a number of certificate holders and colleagues enrolled in certificate programmes and excellent support is available from experienced colleagues.
Galedin is a rural practice but with excellent links to both Edinburgh and Newcastle. The team enjoy regular practice dog walks and social evenings. The Borders offers an excellent base for outdoor pursuits and our team are members of local hockey and rugby teams, triathlon clubs and support various youth clubs and other organisations. There is also a great local agricultural show circuit and active Young Farmers and Agricultural Discussion groups.
We have all the essentials including phase contrast microscopy, Pulsator-V and both linear and curvilinear ultrasound scanners.
Salary up to £65,000 FTE depending on experience plus vehicle available for private use.
