Looking for a mixed or farm vet to join the fun and friendly teams at a very well established practice covering the Scottish Borders and Northumberland.The position is a 10 month fixed term contract with the potential to become a permanent position. Due to a long term colleague going on maternity leave there is a vacancy is for a farm vet with the option of small animal work if this suits the applicant. The practice is lucky to be based in a great livestock farming area. The majority of the farm work is with progressive, interactive suckler beef and sheep farmers. These range from large commercial herds and flocks to smaller pedigree farmers, and also a few large dairies. The practice does a range of farm work from routine work, health planning, fertility testing etc. to every day clinical cases and emergencies.The small animal work includes surgery and consults with access to all the mod cons including endoscopes, dental x-ray, good quality ultrasound and EPOC bloods etc. Aiming to provide a great first opinion service with clinical freedom to follow cases up and a large team of small animal vets for support and case discussion.Most of the vets work a 4.5 day week but there could be potential for flexibility with this and also with the species split preference of the individual.On call would involve an equal share of farm only on call, usually 1 in 7/8 but moving to 1 in 4 with 2 vets on call through the spring. Another vet is always available to ring however at any time of year. Time off in lieu is offered for weekends on call. Within an hours drive of Edinburgh.Salary is dependent upon experience but the total package would include a car, a generous CPD allowance and other benefits.
