This is not your average clinical leadership role. And it is not for your average candidate.
We are working with a well-established, multi-site veterinary practice on the Somerset and Wiltshire border, looking for an exceptional Lead Clinical Director to take the helm across a large, progressive and genuinely ambitious group of practices. If you are ready to operate at the highest level of veterinary leadership — with the scale, autonomy and support to match — read on.
The Details
- Salary: Up to £95,000 per annum
- Contract: Permanent, full time
The Opportunity
This is a senior leadership position spanning multiple well-established practices, responsible for clinical standards, team performance and strategic direction across a team of 24 vets and over 50 nurses. You will work alongside a collaborative leadership team, with full support from regional, medical and HR functions.
The practices operate from modern, well-equipped facilities with a 24/7 RCVS Accredited hospital at the heart of the group, staffed overnight by a dedicated night nurse team — meaning out-of-hours care is handled, and your clinical team can focus on what they do best.
The Clinical Setup
Across the practices you will find:
- Modern theatres and laparoscopic equipment
- Digital X-ray, dental X-ray and ultrasound
- Full dental staging for every patient
- Laser therapy and orthopaedic surgery
- Isolation wards and well-equipped consult rooms
- Onsite laboratory
- CT scanner at the hospital site
- All branches hold ISFM Cat Friendly Clinic status with dedicated feline appointment blocks
- Certificate holders across a range of disciplines plus a visiting Diplomate-led Ophthalmology service
- Clinical interests spanning orthopaedics, ECC, cardiology, exotics, internal medicine, ultrasound imaging and dentistry
The Culture
The clinical team meets monthly online and comes together quarterly for in-person breakfast meetings — giving every clinician a genuine voice in shaping protocols and services. Communication, celebration of achievements and regular feedback are built into how this group operates, not bolted on as an afterthought.
The team is genuinely sociable too, with a running club, dog walking group and a range of social events throughout the year.
Located on the Somerset and Wiltshire border, you will be surrounded by beautiful countryside while remaining close to Bath, Bristol, the Cotswolds, Salisbury and the south coast, with direct train links into London.
