Veterinary Surgeon – Independent Small Animal Practice – South East London
Salary: £55,000–£75,000
Hours: 4 days per week, 9am–7pm + 1 in 3 Saturday mornings (9am–1pm)
OOH: None – no out-of-hours or bank holidays
Experience: 3+ years, confident with some sole charge
The Opportunity
An independent small animal practice in South East London is growing and now looking for a communicative, capable Veterinary Surgeon to join their supportive team.
The clinic has had an exceptional first year, building a loyal client base who value personalised care and longer consults. You’ll have true clinical freedom, space to work up cases properly, and a close-knit, positive team around you.
This is the perfect role if you want independence, autonomy, and the genuine feel of a local community practice.
About the Practice
You’ll be joining a modern, purpose-built clinic with a friendly team of experienced vets, RVNs and support staff. As an independent practice, your voice is heard and your ideas genuinely shape how the clinic develops.
Facilities include:
Digital X-ray & ultrasound
Spacious theatre
Two generous consult rooms
Dedicated RVN consult room
Separate cat ward
In-house lab
Bright, comfortable staff space
Your Role
This is a varied first-opinion position with a mix of consults, surgery and case work-ups, offering lots of hands-on experience.
Key responsibilities:
Deliver high-standard clinical care in consults, surgery and inpatient management
Provide warm, informative client communication
Diagnose and manage a broad caseload with full clinical freedom
Maintain thorough, accurate medical records
Be an active part of a supportive, collaborative team
What’s on Offer
£55,000–£75,000 (DOE/certs)
4-day week + 1 in 3 Saturday mornings

About You
The ideal candidate:
3+ years’ experience with confidence in ops and consulting + occasional sole charge
Warm, approachable and great with clients
Organised, reliable and enjoys a busy, varied role
Strong surgical and first-opinion consult skills
Collaborative team player who values a positive culture
Compassionate, caring and committed to high clinical standards
Keen to contribute ideas and help a practice continue to grow
