An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon to join a long-established independent practice in Wales. Open for over 15 years, this successful practice is led by a Veterinary Surgeon owner who remains actively involved in the clinical side of the business and is passionate about maintaining a supportive, high-quality working environment for both clients and staff.
With a loyal client base, excellent facilities, a highly experienced team and low staff turnover, this is a rare opportunity to join a practice where people genuinely enjoy coming to work.
The Role
This position can be offered on either a full-time or part-time basis.
Full-time options include:
- Four longer days per week
- Five shorter days per week
Part-time options considered:
- Two or three longer days per week
The practice operates a well-structured day with consultations typically scheduled in the morning and afternoon, with surgical time built into the middle of the day. The clinical team work closely together to ensure cases are managed effectively and diaries are planned efficiently.
Consultations are scheduled at 15-minute intervals, allowing time to build relationships with clients while maintaining a productive workflow.
There are no routine out-of-hours or weekend commitments, with all emergency and OOH care provided by Vets Now.
About the Practice
This independent small animal practice is equipped with:
- Digital radiography
- Dental radiography
- Ultrasound scanner
- In-house laboratory and biochemistry equipment
- Dedicated theatre and prep room
- Three consulting rooms
- Staff room facilities
The practice prides itself on delivering continuity of care and managing cases in-house wherever possible. They also benefit from the support of a visiting orthopaedic surgeon, allowing a varied and interesting caseload.
The Team
You'll be joining an experienced and established team consisting of:
- Practice Manager
- Practice Owner
- Two Veterinary Surgeons
- Four Registered Veterinary Nurses
- Head Receptionist
- Two Receptionists
Many team members have been with the practice for a long time, reflecting the supportive culture and positive working environment.
The practice is also an approved training practice and enjoys supporting the development of future veterinary professionals.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
- A minimum of 3 years' UK small animal experience
- Confidence with occasional sole charge responsibilities
- Good organisational and diary management skills
- Strong communication skills
- A proactive and team-focused approach
- A friendly and professional manner
