South Wales Independent Practice Seeks Vet Surgeon

South Wales, United Kingdom
My client, an independent RCVS-accredited small animal and exotics hospital in South Wales, is seeking an experienced and confident Veterinary Surgeon to join their team on a full-time, permanent basis.
This role includes participation in an out-of-hours rota, covering nights and weekends on a manageable one-week-in-eleven schedule, with nights only and no daytime work following a night shift. Candidates must have a minimum of three years of UK experience and be competent in both surgery and emergency medicine. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a truly supportive and collaborative environment.
They are proud of their senior clinical team, who are passionate about mentorship and working closely with colleagues of all experience levels. Development is taken seriously, with tailored progression plans, regular clinical discussions, and funded CPD to help each veterinary surgeon grow in a structured and meaningful way.
The practice offers a varied and interesting caseload, ranging from routine consultations and surgeries to more advanced medical, surgical, and exotic cases. As an independent hospital, there are no corporate pressures, and the owners—both practising vets—work alongside the team each day. Their focus is on delivering high-quality care and fostering a positive, welcoming culture where clinicians feel supported and valued.
They’re looking for a proactive and engaged veterinary surgeon who is comfortable managing routine consults and operations and who is motivated to build their skills further in a safe, encouraging setting. The role provides the ideal balance of independence and support, particularly when gaining experience in out-of-hours emergency work with the guidance of senior colleagues.
The salary ranges from £38,000 to £50,000 and is reviewed annually. CPD is fully funded and actively encouraged, and all professional fees—including RCVS, VDS and relevant memberships—are covered. The package also includes five weeks of holiday and generous staff discounts for personal pets.
Overall, this position will suit a dedicated and communicative veterinary surgeon who values teamwork, ongoing development, and the continuity of care made possible by an in-house emergency service. If you're looking for an independent, supportive, and clinically engaging environment in South Wales, then get in touch ASAP!
