Who They Are
GVC is supporting a well-established small animal hospital and emergency service in South Yorkshire providing 24/7 care to the local community. The hospital combines first-opinion work with a wider range of advanced services in one site, helping deliver strong continuity from admission through to discharge. The clinical team is sizeable, including 15 vets (with an in-house OOH team) alongside a large nursing and support function.
Facilities include CT, ultrasound, and rigid and flexible endoscopy, supporting thorough workups and high clinical standards.
What You’ll Do
This opportunity suits qualified Veterinary Surgeons at different stages, as the rota and support can be shaped to the right person. You’ll:
- Deliver high-quality first-opinion consultations and case management
- Handle routine medical and surgical cases confidently and safely
- Work up a diverse caseload to a high standard using advanced diagnostics where appropriate
- Support emergency admissions and inpatient continuity, collaborating closely with the wider hospital team
- Contribute to consistent clinical standards and a service-led client experience
Where appropriate to experience and service demand, you may also gain exposure to advanced procedures and disciplines supported by the hospital team (e.g., endoscopy, orthopaedics, minimally invasive surgery, and other hospital-led services).
Working pattern
- Rota is open for discussion (full-time, part-time, and weekend-focused patterns considered)
- Weekend participation is essential: typically 1 in 2 for full-time or 1 in 4 for part-time
What You’ll Gain
- Competitive salary (not specified in the text)
- CPD allowance and encouragement towards certificates (where appropriate)
- Contributory pension scheme
- Paid memberships (RCVS, BVA, VDS)
If you want a hospital-and-emergency environment where you can broaden your exposure while working with a large, experienced team, contact GVC for the full brief. Send your CV and what rota you’re looking for (full-time/part-time/weekends), and we’ll share full details.
