The Role
Are you interested in progressing your veterinary career? We have Senior Veterinary Surgeon position available to join our amazing team at our Unicorn Vets, Park Surgery in Bassett, Southampton.
We would welcome a confident Vet as there can be some periods of sole charge. You would have a varied case load with equal time consulting and operating. We have a strong focus on preventative medicine and strive for high standards of patient and client care. Specialties and interests are encouraged and supported, and we are keen to facilitate clinical and professional development. As a Senior Vet you would be working with the practice leadership team to help drive the practice forward and helping to implement new initiatives, as well as mentoring and coaching other members of the team. There may be occasional shifts at one of the other branches if cover is required.
We would be open to flexible working hours for the right candidate. There is 1:5 Saturday rota working until 12.30pm with out of hours responsibilities covered by Vets Now.

About Us
Unicorn Vets is a group of three practices that has been in the Southampton area for over 30 years. We have a good client base with a strong focus on patient welfare and high clinical standards. The practice fosters a very supportive and caring environment where real emphasis is placed on ensuring a great work/life balance for all of the team.
Our Park branch is a stone’s throw from Southampton Common where’s there’s seasonal fairs, Park-Run every Saturday morning, not mention Race for Life. The branch is close to the beautiful New Forest with easy access to the south coast, the idyllic South Downs, 20 minutes from Winchester, and little over an hour’s train ride to London. The area is home to excellent schools and is a lovely place to set up home. The practice is equipped with digital X-ray, in-house haematology and biochemistry including SDMA, T4 and other extended panels, endoscopy, ultrasound with echocardiography, capnography, tonometry and ECG.
The Park branch is currently in the process of achieving cat-friendly accreditation and the Fair Oak branch is officially a cat-friendly clinic.
We currently have a team of 4 Veterinary Surgeons and looking to grow our team supported by a fantastic team of 8 Registered Veterinary Nurses, 4 Student Veterinary Nurses, and an experienced Reception team.
Applicant Requirements
The ideal candidate will be confident in routine surgery and consultations. Mentoring experience is preferred, although not essential.
