Night Veterinary Surgeon – Full or Part-Time
Location: Staffordshire
Salary: Competitive DOE + Relocation Allowance Considered
Hours: 7:00PM – 8:00AM | Monday to Friday | 1 in 4 weekends | Flexible rota available | Independent Practice
We’re working with a respected independent hospital in Staffordshire to recruit a Night Veterinary Surgeon for their dedicated out-of-hours and inpatient care service.
This is a great opportunity for an experienced vet who enjoys ECC work, wants a consistent and well-supported night rota, and values working in a collaborative, well-equipped environment.
Whether you're looking for full-time, part-time, or flexible shift patterns, this role can be adapted to suit your lifestyle and clinical interests.
Why Join This Practice?
Teaching Hospital Environment (Optional Teaching):
As part of a teaching hospital, you’ll have the opportunity—if you wish—to support veterinary students during their clinical placements. You’ll be offered access to the practice’s “Train the Trainer” programme to help you build your teaching confidence, but it’s entirely optional.
Purpose-Built Emergency & Inpatient Facility:
With continuous on-site care, the night team provides emergency triage, treatment, and inpatient care through the night. You’ll work alongside a capable support team with access to advanced diagnostic tools including ultrasound, endoscopy, CT, radiography, and referral-level surgical facilities.
Well-Structured Night Workflow:
Evenings typically involve consultations and emergency care up to midnight–1AM, after which the focus shifts to inpatient management. The overnight caseload is generally consistent but quietens after the early hours, giving you time for thorough case monitoring and care.
Regional OOH Cover:
In addition to their own patients, the practice supports a small group of local practices with OOH emergency care, offering varied and interesting cases across the rota.
