Purpose-led hospital | True 4-day week | New 24/7 facility opening January 2026
If you want your clinical skills to genuinely change outcomes
If you are a vet who still believes that good medicine and compassion should never be limited by a client’s finances, this could feel like coming home.
If you want to work somewhere that values your judgement, supports you properly, and gives you the space to practice the medicine you trained for, keep reading.
The Opportunity
We are working with a non-profit veterinary organisation opening a brand-new 24/7 hospital in Stockton-on-Tees in January 2026. This is not about filling rotas. It is about building a team, from day one, who believe veterinary care should be accessible, ethical, and sustainable.
This hospital has been designed with intention. It will deliver first opinion, referral, and out-of-hours care under one roof, allowing continuity for patients and proper clinical decision-making for vets. You will be part of the founding clinical team, shaping how the hospital works, how cases flow, and how care is delivered to the Teesside community.
They are looking for like-minded veterinary surgeons who want a varied caseload, who enjoy collaboration, and who take pride in doing the right thing even when it is not the easiest option.
Why This Role Is Different
A hospital built for medicine, not shortcuts
- 9 spacious consulting rooms, allowing time and privacy for clients
- 3 fully equipped operating theatres supporting soft tissue and complex procedures
- Diagnostic suite with digital X-ray, dedicated dental suite, and isolation unit
- Separate cat and dog wards for low-stress handling
- Central prep area designed for efficient, safe workflows
A genuinely varied and interesting caseload
- First opinion, referral, and emergency work in one setting
- Exposure to complex cases that would often be referred away elsewhere
- The opportunity to follow cases through, not just hand them over
Values you can stand behind
- A non-profit Community Interest Company with a clear mission
- Free consultations and transparent pricing, removing barriers to care
Work-life balance that is actually protected
- 4-day working week, averaging 40 hours
- 2:9 weekend rota within a larger hospital team
- Structured rotas designed to be fair, predictable, and sustainable
Your Journey Here
In your first month, you will focus on settling in, learning hospital systems, and building strong relationships with the wider vet and nursing teams. You will have support as the hospital opens and workflows are established.
By three months, you will be confidently managing a wide range of cases, contributing to clinical discussions, and beginning to shape how the service runs. Your interests will be actively encouraged, not parked for later.
By six months, you will be a core part of the hospital’s clinical identity. This may include pursuing funded CPD or certificate training, mentoring colleagues, or helping develop specific services within the hospital.
