The role
Medivet have an opportunity for a veterinary surgeon to join the team at our well-equipped 24 hour centre in Horsford, Norwich. This is a fantastic opportunity to work alongside a team of knowledgeable and skilled vets, devoted nurses and lovely support staff.
Our veterinary surgeons are at the front line of delivering exceptional care and play an integral part of each one of our sites. From routine health checks to advanced surgeries, you’ll work directly with clients and patients to offer care that’s bespoke to them. Alongside this you will provide essential support to lead vets or branch partners to ensure delivery of the best quality of care.
The ideal candidate will have good medical and surgical skills, with experience or an interest in exotics. We are seeking a vet with a minimum of one year small animal practice experience.
Salary package of up to £57,000 PA

We can also support Certificates of Sponsorship for a Tier 2 (General) Visa if you meet the criteria and are eligible to register as a veterinary surgeon with the RCVS upon arrival in the UK.
This is a permanent, full-time position working 49 hours per week over four days with 1:3 half or 1:6 full weekends but we're open to flexibility so get in touch and let us know what works for you.

Key accountabilities
- Ensure all team members provide quality and ethical care to all clients and their pets/livestock. - Assess, examine and diagnose patients medical issues - Perform surgery, dress and treat wounds. - Perform diagnostic laboratory, imaging and ultrasound testing where required. - Prescribe medication. - Promote preventative care by advocating and administering routine vaccinations and immunisations. - Educate clients on positive lifestyle choices for pets/livestock. - Euthanise patients. - Ensure compliance with veterinary ethics and relevant statutes, policies, and procedures. - Maintain patients medical records.
Skills and experience
- Registered with the RCVS. - Qualified MRCVS. - Commitment to animal welfare. - Ability to keep on top of practice protocols and procedures. - Excellent organisational skills.

Medivet Horsford is a spacious practice that comes fully equipped with separate dog, cat & exotics wards, high quality ultrasound machine, digital x-ray, dental x-ray, multi-parameter monitoring and holds a cat friendly status. Along with our expertise in all furry creatures, we have a special interest in the treatment of exotic pets. Our specialist equipment enables us to provide a high standard of care for all our patients, including smaller ultrasound probes, endoscopy systems, a dedicated exotics ward and special dentistry equipment and instruments for smaller patients.
Our Hospital provides 24 hour care to the surrounding region and referral work in exotic medicine.
The practice is situated just outside the beautiful city of Norwich, offering a wealth of historic buildings, one of the finest cathedrals in England and a magnificent castle overlooking the City. The countryside is on our doorstep and we are a stone’s throw away from the Norfolk broads and the Norfolk coastline, giving you the perfect opportunity to explore.
