We’re recruiting on behalf of a forward-thinking, multi-disciplinary veterinary hospital that’s seeking an experienced and proactive Lead Veterinary Surgeon to head up their dedicated and friendly team.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-equipped, purpose-built practice offering exceptional patient care through state-of-the-art facilities. The practice features digital and dental radiography, endoscopy, bronchoscopy, multiparameter monitoring, an in-house lab, CT, two surgical theatres, and species-specific wards including an isolation unit.
About the Role:
As Lead Vet, you’ll play a central role in shaping the hospital’s clinical operations and culture. You’ll be responsible for delivering gold-standard veterinary care, mentoring your colleagues, and driving continuous improvement in both clinical and commercial performance. You'll work closely with the practice leadership team to ensure smooth day-to-day running of the hospital, while inspiring and supporting the development of the veterinary team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver outstanding clinical care during consultations and surgical procedures
- Provide clear and compassionate client communication and case updates
- Ensure regulatory, clinical, and operational compliance is consistently met
- Lead and mentor your veterinary team, sharing knowledge and best practices
- Collaborate with practice management to maximise clinical efficiency and commercial outcomes
- Take part in the clinical rota including consultations, surgeries, and handovers
- Contribute to internal CPD and clinical community initiatives
About You:
- Minimum of 5 years' experience as a qualified Veterinary Surgeon in the UK
- Strong leadership and mentoring ability
- Confident in a hospital setting with a broad caseload
- Excellent communication and team collaboration skills
- Commercially astute and organised, with strong time-management
- Comfortable guiding a clinical team in best practices and patient care
- RCVS registered (or eligible)
