A New Chapter For The BSAVA As CEO Transition Announced

The British Small Animal Veterinary Association (BSAVA) has announced that CEO Amanda Stranack will be leaving after 14 years with the Association, with her final day in post on 30 April 2026. As the BSAVA prepares to deliver its new strategic plans, the Association has appointed Stacy Woodman as Interim CEO to provide continuity and lead the organisation through this transition period.
Stacy Woodman, who has been leading the organisation’s Programme of Change, will step in as Interim CEO while a permanent appointment is made. Over the past year, Stacy has worked closely with the Board and leadership team to shape the new business plan and strategy. Her expertise in leading change, plus deep organisational knowledge means she is well placed to provide continuity as the BSAVA moves into the next phase of delivery. The BSAVA has begun recruiting a permanent CEO, with a further update to follow in due course.
Amanda joined the BSAVA in 2012 as Head of Congress, became Director of Operations in 2016 and was appointed CEO in 2019. She has played a key role in the organisation’s strategic development, strengthening its operational capability and long-term resilience. During her time as CEO, BSAVA membership has grown to more than 10,000 members, reflecting the Association’s value and relevance to the veterinary profession. More recently, she has helped to shape the plans that will guide the BSAVA in the years ahead.
Amanda said leading the BSAVA has been a real privilege, “I’m proud of what we’ve achieved together and grateful to the team, volunteers, partners and veterinary community who have supported our work. The dedication and expertise within the BSAVA have been inspiring and it’s been an honour to have played a part in supporting such a wonderful profession. With our long term vision now defined, I’m excited to see the team take it forward. For me personally, it feels like the right time to step away and focus on my next chapter.”

She has led with professionalism, warmth and a deep commitment to the veterinary profession. From her early work as Head of Congress through to CEO, she has played a major role in shaping the BSAVA’s progress and helping position the Association for its next phase. We thank Amanda for everything she has given to the BSAVA and wish her well for the future. And as we move into that next phase, we are delighted to welcome Stacy as our Interim CEO.”
