Anderson Moores Veterinary Specialists Celebrates Two Decades Of Care
Hampshire-based veterinary hospital Anderson Moores Veterinary Specialists is celebrating its 20th anniversary this month.
The practice, in Hursley near Winchester, first opened its doors in September 2006 with three clinicians and two veterinary nurses.
Twenty years on, the specialist referral hospital employs more than 160 people, including specialist vets, residents, veterinary nurses and support colleagues, and has cared for thousands of pets.
Elaine Chivers, Out of Hours Team Leader, has been part of Anderson Moores since it first opened and remains a familiar face at the hospital today. Its longest-serving vet, James Grierson, who is Head of Surgery, has been part of the team for 16 years.
Over the past two decades, Anderson Moores has expanded significantly, providing specialist care for cats and dogs referred by veterinary practices across Hampshire, the surrounding counties and as far afield as Jersey and Guernsey.
Today, its services span neurology and neurosurgery, oncology, internal medicine, orthopaedics, soft tissue surgery, diagnostic imaging and physiotherapy.
The practice anniversary also coincides with its Feline Hyperthyroid Clinic’s 10-year celebration. The clinic first opened to patients in November 2016 and has since treated almost 1,300 cats from across the area.
As one of the UK’s largest and most established purpose-built facilities of its kind, the Feline Hyperthyroid Clinic provides radioactive iodine treatment for cats with hyperthyroidism, offering an alternative to surgery or daily medication.
James Grierson, Head of Surgery at Anderson Moores Veterinary Specialists, said: “When I joined Anderson Moores 16 years ago, many of the specialist services we now take for granted didn't exist. What we did have was an ambitious vision, an exceptional nursing team, and a close-knit group of people committed to providing the very best care for our patients.
"Twenty years on, the hospital has grown beyond anything we could have imagined, expanding to five buildings and becoming a leading multidisciplinary referral centre. Watching that transformation has been remarkable, and it has been a privilege to be part of that journey.
"While the facilities, technology and range of specialist services have changed dramatically, what has stayed constant is the dedication, teamwork and commitment to exceptional patient care that defined Anderson Moores from the very beginning. As we've grown and evolved, I've been proud to see that culture endure."
Anderson Moores Veterinary Specialists is part of the wider Linnaeus portfolio - a network of veterinary practices and specialist referral centres within Mars Veterinary Health, providing dedicated pet healthcare.
