BOOST PET WELFARE WITH A FREE VET WEBINAR ABOUT THE SILENT RABBIT KILLER
A leading Yorkshire pet food manufacturer is offering vets and vet nurses a free ‘lunch and learn’ online seminar about Gut Stasis in rabbits.
Burgess Pet Care, the company behind leading rabbit welfare campaign Rabbit Awareness Week, has joined forces with The Webinar Vet (www.thewebinarvet.com) to deliver ‘A Practical Guide to Gut Stasis in Rabbits’; outlining practical techniques to combat the common and deadly condition, with the help of expert vet John Chitty.
Gut Stasis has been dubbed the ‘silent killer’ due to the way it rapidly affects the intestinal tract of rabbits – slowing, then stopping the digestive system by making it hard and immobile – which can result in death in just 12 hours. John, who is the director of Anton Vets in Andover, Hampshire, and author of a practical text on rabbit surgery, will talk about ways to swiftly identify and treat the debilitating and painful condition.
Peter Lancaster, from Burgess Pet Care, which produces the No.1 vet-recommended food for fibrevores, said: “Since the inception of our Excel five-step feeding plan for rabbits – now recommended by more than 92 per cent of vets – we’ve been passionate about the nutritional wellbeing of rabbits, and this webinar is just one of the ways we’re proving our continued commitment and furthering the education of the veterinary profession. If just one vet is able to save the life of a poorly pet rabbit because of it, we’ve done our job.”
