Burgess Pet Care Is Supporting World Spay Day 2023
Burgess Pet Care, a leading Yorkshire-based pet food manufacturer, is again throwing its support behind World Spay Day (28 February), which aims to reduce the number of unplanned cat litters, with recent research showing that 37% of litters in the last 12 months were unplanned.
Burgess is joining several UK animal welfare charities in raising awareness among owners of the importance of female cats being spayed at four months, as well as neutering male cats to prevent unwanted pregnancies.
To coincide with World Spay Day, Burgess is running a number of initiatives including blogs about the benefits of neutering cats, a digital competition to win two large bags of Burgess Neutered Cat food and a discount on all purchases of Neutered Cat food for a limited time.
Dr Suzanne Moyes MVB MRCVS, Deputy Managing Director at Burgess Pet Care, said: -
“World Spay Day is a timely reminder of the many good reasons why animal lovers everywhere should neuter their pets, especially when it comes to their cats. Owners are often unaware that cats should be neutered at four months old. Not only is it the responsible thing to do, but it’s also the kindest thing owners can do. Neutering is a simple operation that will really benefit pets’ overall health and wellbeing; helping to prevent them from the risk of serious diseases and avoiding unwanted pregnancies.
“We hope that by highlighting the benefits of cat neutering on World Spay Day we can help to raise awareness and dramatically reduce the number of unwanted litters for cats and all pets across the UK.”
