A veterinary surgeon completed the Ben Nevis Ultra earlier this month and raised £260 for woodland conversation charity The Woodland Trust.

Jason Davidson, Partner and Head Veterinary Surgeon at Vets4Pets Derby, part of the Pets at Home Group, has helped to raise more than £14,500 for various causes during his 19 years with the business. His previous endurance tests include completing the London Marathon, Lands End to John O’Groats, Ironman Barcelona and the Otter run Challenge in aid of charities such as Dogs for Good, MS Trust and Bowel Cancer UK.

As part of his latest challenge, Jason, aged 48, was required to complete a 54km run with 4000m of climbing. This included summiting five 5 Munros in the Scottish Highlands.

Jason Davidson said: “I’m thrilled to have completed such a tough challenge to raise some much-needed funds for The Woodland Trust. Our world needs us more than ever right now, so I’m passionate about supporting charities that I believe can make a difference to our future.

“For me, exercising provides time to clear my head, enjoy my surroundings and take a moment to reflect. And as for my training I tried to get out for a run or cycle at least once every week - then I spent the rest of the week trying to recover!”

The fundraising initiative forms part of the Pets at Home Group’s social value strategy, Our Better World Pledge, and supports its goal of becoming the most responsible pet care business in the world. This includes commitments to positively impact the life of every pet in the UK by 2030, enhance the lives of one million people by 2030 and to become net zero by 2040.
