In-home hospice and end-of-life care provider Dignipets has announced a partnership with the Association of Pet Bereavement Counsellors (APB Counsellors), allowing them to connect pet carers with fully accredited counsellors who have the knowledge, training and compassionate understanding to support those navigating the unique experience of pet loss.

Dignipets is a mobile provider of at-home end-of-life care for pets, offering euthanasia, hospice care, quality of life assessments and online consultations across the UK. Last year, Dignipets launched a free app available to every pet carer, offering quality of life scoring tools and much more, all while keeping pet carers directly connected to the Dignipets hospice team. The organisation also offers a broad support network for those navigating the loss of a pet, including pet memorial walks, a supportive Facebook community and an online chat feature.

Because APB Counsellors are fully accredited professionals, their support extends beyond pet bereavement alone. Meaning that should wider emotional needs arise during what can be an incredibly difficult time, pet carers can feel confident they are in skilled and qualified hands.

Merel Taal, Founder and Principal Director at Dignipets, speaks about what this new partnership will mean for pet carers across the UK: "I'm so pleased by the opportunities that this collaboration will present to pet owners and veterinary professionals across the Dignipets network. Coping with the loss of a pet can be extremely difficult and there is no shame in seeking professional support to get through such a challenging time. But what really excites me is that we can now reach pet carers so much sooner - before loss, during those incredibly hard weeks and months of anticipatory grief. This is an amazing extra feature that means we hopefully get more pet carers struggling with anticipatory grief the support that they need - sooner."

APB Counsellors are committed to offering qualified and experienced counselling in pet bereavement. The Association partners with several professionals in the field and, like Dignipets, offers a UK-wide network of accredited practitioners.
