Veterinary Practice Partners’ Employee Assistance Fund Raises $40,000 At Homecoming Gathering, As Co-Ownership Community’s Culture Of Support Deepens Post-Pandemic
Veterinary Practice Partners (“VPP”), the veterinary community revolutionizing vet practice ownership and support, is proud to announce a successful fundraiser for its Employee Assistance Fund, with more than $40,000 raised during VPP’s annual Homecoming community gathering, held in Philadelphia this year. The Fund, which launched during the COVID pandemic to offer emergency financial assistance to VPP staff and their families nationwide, is now a permanent cornerstone of VPP’s community culture.
The Fund has paid out more than $348,000 to members of the VPP community since its inception in 2020. The funds raised at this year’s Homecoming event reflect support from 89 individual donors, plus Zoetis, a corporate partner of VPP. Fundraising for the Fund is crowdsourced across the VPP network, and funding distributions are made by an internal committee of VPP staff. The grants have helped cover a variety of emergency needs for VPP community members and their families, ranging from housing to health problems.
“This is such a kind gesture and just one example of how wonderful this company is by taking care of your employees. I am so happy to be a part of it. I cannot thank you enough,” said one 2022 funding recipient in VPP’s community. “Thank you so much for the assistance! This will be such a big help in helping play catch up. This is a blessing to me and my family,” said a 2023 recipient.
The Fund, now a permanent fixture in VPP’s overall culture of community support, builds on VPP’s core values. In addition to this financial support, VPP offers a deep range of additional support for its DVMs, vet techs, and other hospital employees:
- Professional development: VPP invests in its doctors through immersive, community-focused continuing education and development programs, which help veterinary practitioners gain the practical expertise they need to thrive in a changing profession.
- VPP Academy gives DVMs top-tier clinical training, enhanced skills, and hands-on experience.
- VPP Leadership Academy offers a mini-MBA curriculum, helping both doctors and practice managers learn best practices for developing teams that drive satisfaction and success.
- VPP Practice Manager Academy provides a foundation in leadership, helping practice managers deepen their knowledge and understanding of the business functions of their practice.
- Peer Groups enable VPP veterinarians to meet with their colleagues, with the goal of learning from one another, sharing their expertise on a variety of topics, and offering support to group members.
- Partnership opportunities: VPP’s differentiated partnership model – in which VPP co-owns practices alongside doctors, while providing them a broad foundation of community and operational support – offers doctors a pathway to equity ownership. For more experienced doctors, it also offers a pathway to retirement that provides equity opportunities for the associate veterinarians they’ll leave behind.
- VPP’s mission: VPP’s organizational mission supports the entire community by ensuring that veterinary medicine stays where it belongs: in the hands of caring veterinary professionals.
“At VPP, we know that our community culture sets us apart, and the strong momentum behind our Employee Assistance Fund is just one indicator of how deeply that sense of community resonates across our network,” said John McDonough, Chief Executive Officer of VPP. “And yet, the financial support our team shares with those in need is but one piece of the VPP culture. Our community of co-ownership, mentorship, and professional development is what really changes the trajectory of VPP practices and the careers of those in our community.”
