A one day theory and practical wet lab course covering the essentials of the avian orthopaedics. No prior knowledge or experience is expected. Theory will include clinically relevant anatomy, diagnosis, radiographic positioning and interpretation, fracture repair planning, commonly used equipment and instrumentation, normograde and retrograde surgical approaches to some common avian fractures and post-operative care. Delegates will gain knowledge that can be used in treating birds of prey, parrots, companion, aviary and wild birds. The hands-on practical gives the opportunity to develop familiarity with use of the instrumentation and practice intramedullary pinning and external skeletal fixation.
Lunch and refreshments will be provided on the day (dietary requirements recorded when booking). Additionally, overnight accommodation is available at the venue for a small extra charge.
