Emergency and critical care requires clear decisions in a timely manner, especially in the urinary system where electrolytes and biochemical changes can affect multiple organ systems. This course with Rachael Birkbeck covers the work up of azotaemia and acute renal disease, delving deeper than simple fluid therapy. The course will then progress into the managing urinary obstruction with both ureteric and urethral obstruction before finally managing uroabdomen diagnosis and treatment.
Topics to be covered include:
Diagnosis of renal and post-renal causes of azotaemia
Management of acute kidney injury - it’s more complex than x2 maintenance fluids!
Management of ureteric and urethral obstruction
