Performing an unfamiliar technique in an emergency situation is stressful for all concerned! This course aims to give hands on experience in performing the surgical techniques necessary to deal with common emergency presentations and as such is suitable for all vets in practice. We will outline why, when, and how to employ the techniques, putting them into context within the stabilisation and treatment of these often challenging but rewarding cases.
Topics to be covered include:
Tracheostomy
Thoracocentesis and chest drain placement
GDV surgery and gastropexy techniques
Haemoabdomen – splenectomy, and what if it’s not the spleen?
Diaphragmatic hernia
Urethrotomy, urethrostomy and cystotomy
Number of CPD hours this event can be recorded as
